Dr. Benson-Amram is an associate professor in the departments of Zoology and Forest and Conservation Sciences at the University of British Columbia, where she founded the University of British Columbia Urban Wildlife Project. Dr. Benson-Amram has been studying the behaviour, cognition, and ecology of mammalian carnivores for over 20 years. Her research currently focuses on urban wildlife, including coyotes and raccoons.
Dr. Benson-Amram has a Ph.D. in Zoology and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Cornell University. Dr. Benson-Amram regularly publishes the results of her research in
highly respected international scientific journals, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Proceedings of the Royal Society B, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B, Animal Behaviour, and Animal Cognition. Her work is regularly featured in notable international press outlets, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the CBC, National Public Radio, The Atlantic, the BBC, National Geographic, Wired, Science News, The Smithsonian, Le Monde, the Sunday Telegraph, Scientific American, and the New Scientist, amongst others.
