- Professorial Fellow in Youth Mental Health, The University of Melbourne
Sarah Bendall is a professorial fellow and clinical psychologist at Orygen and the Centre for Youth Mental Health, The University of Melbourne. She leads the Trauma and Youth Mental Health research unit at Orygen. Her research focuses on examining the role of trauma in the development of psychosis, treating post-traumatic stress disorder in young people, and the development of evidence-based models of trauma-informed care in youth mental health services.
Prof Bendall completed graduate training in clinical psychology at the University of Auckland in New Zealand in 1995. Since joining the university in 2001, she undertook a PhD in the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 2008. She has held a NHMRC Early Career Fellowship, and a McCusker Philanthropic Foundation Fellowship. She currently holds a NHMRC Investigator Grant to continue her work in understanding and treating trauma in young people with mental health difficulties.
