A sociologist and demographer by training, Dr. Yeatman’s research centers on three areas: the social consequences of HIV/AIDS, the dynamics of fertility preferences, and the creative measurement of sensitive information.
Recently, Yeatman helped design and run a six-year panel study (2009-2015) of 3,000 young men, women and couples in southern Malawi (Tsogolo la Thanzi, https://tsogololathanzi.uchicago.edu), which examined how young adults navigated marriage and childbearing in a generalized AIDS epidemic.
Dr. Yeatman earned a PhD in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin and a MSc in Demography and Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
