Sara B. Pritchard

Professor Sara Pritchard is a writer, historian, and professor specializing in the history of science and technology and environmental history. She was a 2015 Public Voices Fellow at the Op-Ed Project when she wrote an op-ed on gender bias in teaching evaluations for "The Conversation" that went viral. Sara's current research critically examines the history, science, and ethics of adverse artificial light at night (light pollution). Her book, _Transforming Night: The History and Science of Light Pollution_, will be published by the University of Washington Press on August 3, 2026. Her research has been supported by grants from the US National Science Foundation, as well as Cornell’s Society for the Humanities, Center for the Social Sciences, and Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future.
