Sanggay Tashi (Cultural Anthropology, PhD Candidate) at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on state modernization projects, the digitalization of everyday life, and emerging climate-related issues, such as renewable energy farms reshaping local communities and the environment in eastern Tibet, China. His research pays particular attention to licensing regimes, the digitalization of infrastructure and social life, and the development of solar and wind energy farms as well as local indigenous ways of modernization. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork, his work explores how Indigenous communities experience and navigate these transformations through culturally grounded knowledge, practices, and skills.
