Dr. Sanam Mahoozi is a researcher who studies the media framing of news in Iran and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Her PhD in Journalism focuses on media coverage of Iran’s water protests, examining how different media platforms, including social media, frame political events in countries with censored media systems such as Iran. She also holds an MA in International Journalism from City, St George’s, University of London.

She is also a journalist covering Iran’s water shortages, air pollution, and environmental degradation. She has reported on Iran’s protests and conflicts, and her work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Context Newsroom, Al Jazeera English, and Climate Home News. Mahoozi is also a sustainability contributor for Forbes.
