- PhD, Sociology, Carleton University
Since 2009 I have worked and volunteered in the non-profit sector in Ottawa, specifically with organizations that have a mandate to support people with criminal records. I've worked both frontline as well as in project management, research, and proposal writing positions.
My research looks at the role of the non-profit sector in the criminal justice system and focuses specifically on the work of frontline practitioners in supporting people with criminal records in the community. Part of this work includes looking at the impact of the changes made to Canada's pardon system in 2010/2012 and other structural barriers that prevent people with criminal records from full participation in their communities.
