Sally Tomlinson started her career as a teacher in Wolverhampton when Enoch Powell was making his speeches. She has held Professorial Chairs in Education in Lancaster, Swansea (Wales) and Goldsmiths London, where she was also a Pro-Warden (Vice-Principal). She has written and researched for over thirty years in the areas of race, ethnicity and education, education policy and special education, and was a trustee of the Africa Educational Trust for twenty years, working in Somaliland, Kenya and South Africa. She has written a number of articles with Danny Dorling and co-authored with him "Rule Britannia: Brexit and the end of Empire" (Biteback 2019). Her most recent book is "Education and Race from Empire to Brexit ( Policy Press 2019)
