- PhD Candidate, University of Bath
Sali Morris is a PhD student working on antibiotic resistance. Her research focuses on investigating the intrinsic resistance mechanisms in Enterococcus faecalis.
After finishing her undergraduate at Cardiff University, Sali worked as a biomedical scientist at Withybush Hospital in Wales. She now studies the intrinsic resistance mechanisms of the microbe Enterococcus faecalis.
E. faecalis currently stands as the second most common hospital acquired infection in the United States, with certain members of the genus being termed 'superbugs' - bacteria which have become resistant to all forms of antibiotic treatment. Her research aims to identify new therapeutic targets for antibiotics via gaining a broader understanding of the intrinsic mechanisms which allow the bacteria to survive.
