Safia Bailey is a doctoral candidate in sociology at Cardiff University. Her PhD, River Thames Reflections, explores what the River Thames means to its swimmers – and what they mean for it. She is particularly interested in the entanglements that arise between body and place when swimming outdoors, and how these entanglements affect swimmers’ perceptions of the world around them. To explore these themes, she uses sensory and mobile methods.
