I am a paleoanthropologist with interests in reconstructing the past environments in which our ancestors (hominins) evolved and in investigating how sites were formed and what happened to the animals preserved in those sites. I am particularly interested in understanding types of habitats animals moved through by studying their bones (ecomorphology). Though I have worked at sites from the Miocene to the Pleistocene and across eastern Africa and Europe, my primary focus is in Pleistocene Romania, looking for traces of first occupations in Eurasia by hominins.
