S. Kyle Johnson is a doctoral candidate in Systematic Theology at Boston College. His work focuses on the intersections of Christian spirituality and political theology--tracing how spiritual practices relate to issues of power, social action, and oppression. His current research focuses on Christian beliefs and practices related to demons, possession, and exorcism.
Kyle has research and teaching experience in religious & politics, Christian social ethics, early Church history, peace studies, and theology. He graduated with a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2015. He received a ThM from Boston College in 2016, writing his thesis on the theme of peace and peacemaking in Christian monastic liturgical practices. He has lectured and presented research on theology and race, religion in America, mysticism, ascetic spirituality and other topics in the US and abroad.
