Ryan is a Professor and former Australian Research Council Future Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology. His research interests are in using radio pulsars and fast radio bursts tools for doing physics, in particular using observations of millisecond pulsars to detect gravitational waves, and studying the structure of the Universe with fast radio bursts.
