- Research Fellow, University of Southampton
Ruth Luzmore is a Research Fellow in Southampton Education School, bringing nearly two decades of experience in England's state education system. Her career spans roles from teaching assistant to headteacher in primary and all-through schools, providing insight into educational leadership and school improvement.
Her research focuses on how school leaders design and implement professional development, with particular interest in professional learning networks and evidence-informed practice. She is currently working on two major projects: the Ideas-Informed Society research initiative, examining how people engage with information and evidence in decision-making, and the EU Horizon-funded MEGASKILLS project, which develops innovative methodologies for soft skills training through gaming.
Ruth maintains strong connections with educational practice through her role as lecturer and mentor for school leaders in the MA Educational Leadership program at the National Institute of Teaching and Education. She continues to contribute to schools as a governor at both an all-through school and nursery setting. She regularly contributes to educational discourse through academic publications, conference presentations, and media engagement.
