Ruli Manurung is currently the Coordinator for the Computer Science stream at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia. He previously worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, from where he also obtained his Ph.D degree.
His doctoral dissertation investigates the use of evolutionary algorithms to generate meaningful poetry, i.e. texts that convey a given semantics whilst satisfying simple poetic features at the surface.
Ruli's research interests fall into the fields of natural language processing, computational creativity, and artificial intelligence.
