Dr Rosalyn Black is a Lecturer within the Faculty of Education at Monash University, having previously been the Senior Manager of Research, Policy and Evaluation at the Foundation for Young Australians. Her career in education spans almost 30 years, combining teaching, policy development and research across the school, higher education, government and nonprofit sectors.
Her research interests include:
- policy and school reform to improve outcomes for marginalised young people
- school-community partnership and other joined-up education strategies
- youth identities, citizenship and participation.
These themes are combined in her PhD thesis (University of Melbourne), which investigates the democratic participation of young people from low socioeconomic backgrounds and the role of schools in this participation. Rosalyn is a member of the Youth Studies Australia International Editorial Board, The Australian Sociological Association (TASA) and the Australian Association of Research in Education (AARE).
