- Research Professor of Biotechnology, Head of Host-Microbe Interactions Laboratory, RMIT University
I'm a Professor at RMIT University, in the School of Science, leading a research team investigating the role of bacteria in health and disease. A lot of our effort is directed towards assisting the poultry industry to grow healthy chickens by developing vaccines against important diseases and developing probiotics to help maintain a healthy gut.
I'm also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Microbiology at Monash University and I collaborate with a number of Monash research groups to both study bacterial pathogens and also help others with microbiota analysis in their experimental models of human diseases.
Before joining RMIT University I lead a research group at the Australian Animal Health Facility of CSIRO and before that I worked in the R&D Department of an Animal Health Company.
