Dr. Robert J. Hanlon is an Associate Professor in Political Science and Chair of the Department of Philosophy, History and Politics at Thompson Rivers University. He is also Director of the Canada-Asia Pacific Policy Project and serves as an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives (University of Victoria), Honorary Professor in Political Science (Kumaun University), and is an Associate Faculty member in the School of Humanitarian Studies at Royal Roads University. His research explores the links between human security and corporate social responsibility in emerging Asian economies. Outside academia, Dr. Hanlon has worked for the Asian Human Rights Commission, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, as well as the High Commission of Canada in Australia. He holds a PhD in International Relations and Asian Politics from City University of Hong Kong and has been a visiting scholar at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies (Oxford), the Liu Institute for Global Issues (UBC), the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration (Chulalongkorn), the Balsillie School of International Affairs (Waterloo), as well as the University of Hong Kong.
