Richard Shorten is Associate Professor in Political Theory at the University of Birmingham, UK. His research focuses on the history of modern political ideas, in particular connection with violence and injury. He is author of The Ideology of Political Reactionaries (Routledge, 2021), and Modernism and Totalitarianism (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012). He is currently working on a book on vulnerability and the writing voice in George Orwell, Hannah Arendt, and Albert Camus.
