- UKRI Future Leader Fellow & Associate Professor, Northumbria University, Newcastle
I am a UKRI Future Leader Fellow at Northumbria University, interested in all things celestial! I have the wonderful job of browsing beautiful images of the Sun from satellites and telescopes. This is with a view to understand how energy is transferred through stars atmospheres in order to power the hot chromospheres, coronae and stellar winds. My research group work on analaysing data from new and unique instruments that can provide interesting insights into magnetohydrodynamic waves in the Sun's atmosphere, in particular working with the Coronal MultiChannel Polarimeter, Solar Dynamics Observatory, Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, & Solar Orbiter.
I graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2008 with a MPHYS Mathematics and Physics degree and remained at Sheffield to complete my PhD in Applied Mathematics/Solar Physics. I accepted my first position as a research scientist there. In 2012 I was appointed as Anniversary Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Information Sciences at Northumbria University and I was awarded a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship in June 2014 to continue my research.
