- Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, Liverpool John Moores University
Dr. Richie Kirwan is a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology and a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) with expertise spanning nutrition and exercise for cardiovascular health, body composition, performance and longevity.
His research investigates how diet and exercise, particularly high-protein Mediterranean-style diets and resistance training, can improve body composition, cholesterol levels and metabolic health, and reduce cardiovascular risk in at-risk populations.
Richie regularly translates complex nutritional research into accessible, evidence-based content for public and professional audiences alike, via social media, podcasts, press, academic outreach and collaboration with the nutrition supplements industry. In particular he aims to counter misinformation around diet and health particularly in relation to low-carb, ketogenic or carnivore diets and heart health.
