- Research Lead, UQ Micromobility Research Cluster, The University of Queensland
Dr. Buning is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism at The University of Queensland Business School and Research Lead of the UQ Micromobility Research Cluster. His research examines human mobility systems: how people move through leisure, events, tourism, and cities, and how they adopt, experience, and integrate active, shared, and electric mobility into their lives. Across my publications, he has explored sport event travel careers, social worlds, cycling tourism, active sport participation, bikeshare, e-scooters, first/last-mile transport, and micromobility policy.
His current work focuses on how micromobility can support safer, more sustainable, and more inclusive transport systems for residents, visitors, and event participants. He reguraly works with government, industry, and community partners to translate behavioural research into practical evidence for cities, destinations, and transport policy.
