Riandy Laksono is a researcher at the department of economics, Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia. He completed his PhD from the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics, Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University (ANU) in June 2025. He studied the impact of international trade on development outcomes using the case of Indonesia’s liberalization episode and export expansion to China following accession to the WTO. Riandy has nearly 15 years of experience working in the areas of trade, industry, and private sector development. His broader research interest lies in the intersection of trade, industrial, and macroeconomic policies that advance the well-being of the people and mitigate climate-related issues. He has six years of teaching/tutoring experience in various economics-related subjects at leading universities in Indonesia and Australia. He is a recipient of the Australia Award Scholarship (AAS) in 2019 and was the president of the Indonesian Student’s Association at the ANU in 2021-2022.
