- Associate professor, North-West University
Rialet is a researcher in the Unit for Environmental Sciences and Management at the North-West University in South Africa’s Potchefstroom Campus. As an ecotoxicologist, her interests lie in organic chemical pollutants and their harmful effects to humans and wildlife. One of the harmful effects she specialises in, is the damage incurred by organic chemical pollutants mimicking endogenous hormones. This may cause disruption of the endocrine system. She uses reporter gene assays to screen environmental samples for oestrogenic and androgenic effects and perform quantitative chemical analysis to determine the concentrations of the compounds.
She has successfully trained PhD and MSc students in this field and as staff member of the Zoology subject group, is teaching Zoology to second year students.
