Reihaneh Rabbany

Reihaneh Rabbany is a Canada CIFAR AI Chair, core faculty member of Mila - Quebec's AI institute, and associate professor at McGill University's School of Computer Science. She serves on the Research Council of the Canadian AI Safety Institute and CIFAR's AI Insights for Policymakers expert group. She was previously a postdoctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon and completed her Ph.D. at the University of Alberta.
Rabbany's research focuses on the safety and integrity of large-scale socio-technical systems. Her group designs AI platforms, including multi-agent social simulations and AI fact-checking systems, to study how LLM-driven agents interact, where manipulation emerges, and how they can be made trustworthy in online societies. This work is supported by grants from CIFAR, the Future of Life Institute, the UK AI Safety Institute, and IVADO's Safe and Aligned AI program.
