Research interests - international circulation of film and television texts and cultures. My research focuses on contemporary Japanese cinema, with a particular interest in animation. My publications include the books Anime: A Critical Introduction (Bloomsbury 2015) and Superheroes on World Screens (University of Mississippi Press, 2015, edited with Rachel Mizsei-Ward). I also work on Asian cinema and animation more widely.
Research projects include: Manga to the Movies, an AHRC Research Council Funded Project Analysing Japanese Media Franchising (January 2011 - 2013).
