- Senior lecturer, University for Development Studies
Raymond was born in Kumasi but spent most of his childhood in Sunyani. He attended Notre Dame Minor Seminary in Navrongo where he studied science. He then proceeded to the University for Development Studies for his BSc degree in earth science. Raymond’s interest in geosciences was piqued after this, so he joined the University of Ghana to study MPhil geology with an emphasis on structural geology. Raymond’s passion for teaching was evident in the fact that he served as a graduate assistant and teaching assistant at the University of Ghana during and after his postgraduate studies respectively. He obtained his PhD in mineral exploration from the Pan African University at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
His research in structural geology and geochemistry covers a broad range of areas such as the structural deformation history of the Bole-Nangodi greenstone belt, trace element distribution in soils and food with their impact on human health, biogeochemical gold exploration and the application of stable isotope geochemistry in gold exploration. Raymond is a member of the Geological Society of Africa, the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists, and the International Medical Geology Association.
