Ramatou Ouedraogo

Ramatou is a Research Scientist at the African Population and Health Research Center. In this role, she leads and contributes to qualitative and multidisciplinary research projects in the areas of unsafe abortion, transactional sex, contraceptive (non) use, sexual and gender-based violence, quality of care, adolescents and young people among others.

Ramatou holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Bordeaux (France), and a master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Before her tenure at APHRC, she served as a post-doctoral fellow at the Fondation Maison Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) and as a Project coordinator at the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM).

Ramatou’s work is driven by the conviction that dedicated research can contribute to improving the living conditions for African people. Therefore, she strives to generate rigorous evidence on sensitive and contentious reproductive health issues to inform policies and community level interventions aiming at improving access and delivery of quality services.
