Dr Rakesh Gupta is an Associate Professor of Accounting & Finance at Charles Darwin University. Dr Gupta's research interests are in emerging markets, stock market volatility, international investments, market integration and impact of emissions on international stock markets. Dr Gupta has a varied research experience in different fields and has worked on areas that go beyond traditional finance such as Carbon emissions, Cryptocurrency, Initial public offerings, real estate pricing and impact of war on economic development in African countries.

Dr Gupta has visited and connected with several universities working on various types of projects in Australia, USA, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, India and China. He has also lectured in topics of international finance, corporate finance and financial planning across the world. Dr Gupta is also current member of the Rotary Club where he supports the Redland Bay in community projects and events.

Dr Gupta formerly worked at Griffith University, where he taught finance and investments at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Gupta has an extensive research portfolio and has published more than 50 papers in journals of international standing. His research is frequently cited in academic journals and professional publications including class action litigation against Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (by Labaton Sucharow during 2008). One of his recent papers in the area of managed funds research has been awarded best paper for the year 2012. His research in the area of emerging markets is well regarded. He has presented his research findings at world renowned conferences and been invited for presenting seminars frequently.

He is frequently invited to present seminars by universities worldwide, e.g. University of St Thomas and Baruch College in the USA. Renmin University, Xiamen University, Dalian University of Technology and Nankai University in China and Indian Institute of Management in india. He is currently a non-resident senior research fellow at Changchun Institute of Financial Studies at Renmin University Beijing an independent think tank and HaiTian scholar at Dalian University of technology.

Dr Gupta completed his undergraduate degree in science (B.Sc.), prior to completing an MBA in finance, M.Com in accounting & finance and earning a doctorate (PhD) with his research in the emerging market diversification.
