Rafael Miranda Ferreiro

Member of the Institute of Biodiversity and Environment of the University of Navarra. Currently, his research projects aim to analyse the implications of biodiversity knowledge for management and conservation in collaboration with some Latin American institutions. His main lines of research are hydrobiology and animal ecology in river ecosystems, aimed at evaluating the ecological status and managing and conserving biodiversity. He has worked in Bangladesh, Great Britain, California, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador, collaborating with local researchers. Founding member and treasurer since the origin of the Iberian Society of Ichthyology, and member of the External Affairs Committee (2010-2016) and the International Fisheries Section of the American Fisheries Society. Coordinator of the Spanish Fish Charter (http://www.cartapiscicola.es). Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Department of Rural Development, Environment and Local Administration of the Government of Navarra since 2018. Member of the Spain Species Specialist Group of the IUCN since 2024.
