Rachel White

(she/her)

I joined the English Studies department at Durham University in 2021 as a Teaching Fellow in Early Modern Literature, and I am now a Career Development Fellow in Early Modern Literature. My recently published monograph, Elizabethan Occult Poetics: Practice and Knowledge in English Poetry (Liverpool University Press 2025), examines the role of the occult tradition on the development of English poetry during the Elizabethan period.

My research interests primarily focus on literature of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, science, magic, and the occult tradition.
