Rachel Hogg

(she/her)

Rachel Hogg is a Senior Lecturer of Psychology at Charles Sturt University.

Rachel's teaching and research practice draws on critical psychology to consider topics such as stress and trauma, human-animal interaction, animal-assisted therapy, and gendered experiences of clinical psychology, as well as consent, coercive control, and domestic violence. She examines wellness culture, social media, and disordered eating and exercise discourses in her work, as well as gendered expressions of harm in young people. Her work seeks to challenge disciplinary boundaries and consider how language and social frameworks are implicated in academic discourse and in the power dynamics underpinning psychology as a discipline. Rachel’s work is informed by her experience living in regional Australia and her engagement with feminism, the arts, and the community and social issues critical to regional contexts.

Rachel has taught across a range of psychological domains including methods of psychological inquiry, advanced research methods and statistics in psychology, psychological testing, the psychology of learning, foundations of psychology for health and human services, cognition, industrial-organisational psychology, ethics in research, critical thinking and reasoning, and stress, trauma, and coping.
