Rachel Bolton-King

Dr Rachel Bolton-King is an Associate Professor and Courses Manager of Forensic Science at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and specialises in forensic ballistics and firearm examination. She co-leads the NTU Policing Academic Centre of Excellence and is the Senior Associate Editor and former Editor-in-Chief of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences’ (the professional body for forensic science, CSFS) international journal, Science & Justice. Rachel is also a Fellow of the CSFS and technical advisor for the Association of Forensic Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners. She has won a number of awards for her teaching and research in this field over the last five years, including a Churchill Fellowship, National Teaching Fellowship, Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and Outstanding Alumni award. Rachel is a Visiting Fellow at the University of Staffordshire and co-directs the university’s Cold Case Unit. She sits on two of the statutory Forensic Science Regulator’s Working Groups and works closely with Staffordshire Police in her role as a Visiting Professor and other law enforcement agencies aiming to improve effectiveness, efficiency, forensic potential and quality standards in firearm-related investigations. In her academic and professional roles she has the privilege to travel to work with and learn from forensic practitioners across the globe.
