Pui Kwan Cheung

(He/his)

Dr Paul (Pui Kwan) Cheung completed his PhD in the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences, the University of Melbourne. In his PhD project, he identified the best irrigation amount and irrigation schedule to maximise the cooling benefits of irrigating urban green spaces through field experiments and climate modelling. He is now a post-doctoral research fellow at Western Sydney University. His recent projects includes:
1. Identifying the design factors (e.g., aspect, shading, surface materials, and size) that influence the human thermal comfort of private residential gardens in Donnybrook, VIC.
2. Quantifying the human heat stress and burn risk of artificial turf vs natural turf in a semi-controlled field experiment.
3. Measuring the extent and magnitude of park cool island effect in the City of Wyndham, VIC.
4. Measuring the cooling and stormwater benefits of different urban blue-green infrastructure installed in a single-storey house in Lyndhurst, VIC.
5. Reviewing the design and effectiveness of urban green infrastructure, e.g., urban trees, green roofs, and rainwater harvesting systems, in mitigating floods.
