Professor Tim Smith is a human geographer focused on coastal management and climate change adaptation. Tim is the Dean of the Faculty of Environment, Society and Design at Lincoln University, Aotearoa New Zealand. He is also an Emeritus Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia), an Adjunct Professor at Brock University (Canada), and an Affiliated Professor at Uppsala University (Sweden). Prior to accepting the Dean position, he held an Australian Research Council Fellowship, was the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Business and Law, and before that was the Director of the Sustainability Research Centre at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia. He has also worked at the CSIRO and several other universities, and undertaken research projects in over 10 countries. He is also co-Chair of Future Earth Coasts and Executive Editor of the journal Ocean & Coastal Management.
