- Professor of Infectious Diseases and of History, University of Michigan
I am an infectious diseases doctor and medical historian. I have degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (BA), Harvard (MA, History of Science), Tufts (MD), and at the University of Michigan (PhD, History), where I am Professor and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Professor in the Department of History. My medical background and historical training have provided a multidisciplinary approach to my teaching and scholarship. My courses on the “History of Epidemics” and “Sexually Transmitted Diseases” provide a comprehensive lens to view the impact that epidemic diseases have had on societies throughout history.
