Pia Treichel is a Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow with RMIT’s Pacific Initiative in the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies. Pia is a practitioner-turned-researcher, whose research builds off her experiences working on climate change with international development organisations including ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, the International Institute for Environment and Development, ODI Global, Oxfam in the Pacific, Save the Children, Plan International, and the United Nations Development Programme.

Pia's PhD explored the political economy of the Green Climate Fund – the largest of the funding mechanisms under the international climate agreements – as a means of explaining its climate change adaptation portfolio and the associated justice implications.

Pia's research interests focus on climate vulnerability and improving the adaptation options of the world’s most vulnerable people, including through climate finance.
