Phillippa Carnemolla

Phillippa Carnemolla is a Professor at the University of Technology Sydney. She studies how buildings and places affect the lives of older people and people with disability. Her work looks at everything from bathrooms and homes to public spaces, historic buildings and cities.

She leads research on aged care, housing and specialist disability accommodation. She is working on a program of research with people with intellectual disability to understand what should be remembered about former disability institutions, and why this matters today. This program of research is co-lead with Prof Linda Steele.

Phillippa is also an ARC DECRA Fellow, doing research on the role of Australia's housing in enabling a sustainable and funcitoning aged care sector.

She also advises organisations on design, social impact and services.
