Philip (Piripi) McKibbin is of Māori (Kāi Tahu) and Pākehā descent. He is currently a PhD candidate in the Sydney Environment Institute at the University of Sydney. Piripi holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy with first class honours from the University of Auckland, and diplomas in te reo Māori (the Māori language) from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. His research, which is transdisciplinary, engages with political philosophy, Black feminism, critical animal studies, the environmental humanities, and Indigenous theory—especially Māori methodologies—as well as progressive movement for social change in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.
