Phil Tomlinson is Professor of Industrial Strategy and Regional Development, and Co-Director of the Centre for Governance, Regions & Industrial Strategy (CGRIS) in the School of Management at the University of Bath. His research explores the interplay between economic governance, innovation, regional development and place-based industrial strategy. He has published widely and extensively, with over 135 career research publications in leading academic journals, books and book chapters, industry reports and media outlets. Professor Tomlinson is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) and of the Regional Studies Association (FeRSA) and he has held several external appointments including with the UK All- Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group (APMG), the Independent Local Industrial Strategy Review Panel for Swindon and Wiltshire LEP (SWLEP) and he is currently a member of the West of England’s Skills Advisory Panel (SAP). He is the current Co-Editor in Chief of Contemporary Social Science and the Policy Debates Editor at Regional Studies.
