- Professor of Competition Economics, University of East Anglia
I am Professor of Competition Economics. My research maps around various topics in competition law and economics, combining econometrics with novel data science methods. My current work focuses on digital markets, for example the impact of autonomous recommendation systems on competition, and I was recently Principal Investigator on a UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems grant. I have previously worked on topics such as deterrence, reputation, and private sanctions, and have published extensively and done consultancy works on the ex-post evaluation of the impact of competition policy. I have PhDs in both economics and law, and have published in both economics and law journals of international excellence. Beside my academic achievements, I have several years of policy analysis experience working for the Hungarian Competition Authority and the OECD. I had also been a member of the Competition and Markets Authority's (CMA) Academic Board. I have provided advice and delivered various reports for the European Commission, the OECD, UNCTAD, the World Bank and the UK CMA on issues related to economic impact evaluation and the estimation of the consumer benefits of competition policy.
I also have a pop-economics YouTube channel, Chopping Board Economics, and I write sci-fi in my spare time (https://ormosipl.wordpress.com/)
