Pearl is a social demographer whose research focuses on human capital investments in sub-Saharan Africa and the ways in which social inequalities shape educational and health outcomes. She is also passionate about strengthening statistical literacy among data users and promoting the use of research and evidence to inform decision-making and public policy.
She earned a BA in Economics at Davidson College and holds both an MA and a PhD in Demography from the University of Pennsylvania. She works as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana’s Regional Institute for Population Studies. In this role, she balances classroom teaching with research that aims to solve real-world challenges.
Her current research focuses on human capital investments in sub-Saharan Africa and examining how structural inequalities shape educational and health outcomes.
