After obtaining a BS degree in biology from Cornell University, I embarked on a MS degree in Systems Science with an aim toward doing work in ecosystem modelling. As valuable as my MS training was, I found engineering too sterile so then began study for my PhD in entomology. During my PhD research, I was able to combine my interests in biology, modelling and analytical chemistry. I have been using skills in these areas to study the biology, ecology and management of insect pests in a variety of cropping systems (vegetables, stored grains, ornamentals and pastures).
