I earned my PhD in Education and Social Justice at Lancaster University, UK. My doctoral research centered on the cultivation of global citizenship identity and engagement in higher education. I have taught college and university courses in social service work, early childhood education, global citizenship, and study abroad. As founding and current director of the Soka Education Research Centre on Global Citizenship at the University of Guelph-Humber, I work with students to study and research various issues of global importance and relevancy.
Prior to my 15 year career in academia I worked for over three decades in community mental health settings, first as a clinician, and then as executive director for non-profit youth counseling agencies.
