- Visiting Professor in Risk Assesment and Marine Technology, Liverpool John Moores University
Dr Paul Davies is a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Risk Assessment and Marine Technology at Liverpool John Moores University.
He is a Chartered Engineer with a PhD is in Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) from Loughborough University, and 30 years’ experience in assessing safety risks in the marine, chemicals, and oil and gas industries.
His current interests include the safety risks from hazardous materials with a focus on the safe use of alternative fuels for marine propulsion. In this work Paul has assisted the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency, the International Association of Classification Societies, the Cruise Ship Safety Forum, the European Maritime Safety Agency, the Society for Gas as Marine Fuel, and shipyards and designers in Europe, Asia and North America.
