- Adjunct assistant professor, Centre for Creative and Cultural Research, University of Canberra
I am an adjunct assistant professor in the Centre for Creative and Cultural Research, at the University of Canberra.
My first book, 'Tiberius with a Telephone', a biography of the former prime minister Sir William McMahon, was published by Scribe in 2018 and won the Douglas Stewart Prize for Non-Fiction at the 2020 NSW Premier's Literary Awards and the 2020 National Biography Award.
My second book, 'The Trials of Portnoy' (Scribe, 2020), is an account of the downfall of the censorship system in Australia, as spurred by Penguin Australia's publication of Philip Roth's novel 'Portnoy's Complaint'. It was shortlisted for the Douglas Stewart Prize for Non-Fiction at the 2021 NSW Premier's Literary Awards.
