Professor Patrick Meir FRSE is Chair of Ecosystem Science, Royal Society Wolfson Fellow and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Forests and Landscapes at the University of Edinburgh, UK, and is also Honorary Professor (Forest Ecosystems) at Australian National University, Australia. Patrick's research focuses on forest ecosystems and global change. He has advanced understanding of the environmental physiology of trees, forests and soil, their roles in the cycles of water and carbon, the influence of biodiversity, and the overall interaction between forests and climate. He also leads community efforts to expand cross-sectoral expertise in how forests can provide for our wider benefit.
