Dr Patrick Girard is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Auckland, with a PhD from Stanford University. His research focuses on philosophical logic and the ways formal reasoning shapes public life. He is the author of Logic in the Wild (McGill-Queen's University Press, 2024), which brings logical analysis to bear on reasoning in science, religion, and everyday decision making. His forthcoming book, A Logician's Code of Conduct (McGill-Queen's University Press, June 2026), draws on feminist, queer, and postcolonial scholarship to examine how logic can function as a tool of exclusion when certain ways of thinking are dismissed as incoherent.
