The scope of my research is broad and explores a variety of topical issues including wildlife resource-use, population dynamics and movement ecology. I will be observing a largely isolated population of Fallow deer (Dama dama) in North Wales using GPS collars, drone-mounted thermal imaging cameras and motion-activated camera traps. I intend to identify the landscape-scale drivers of resource-use and observe behavioural responses to anthropogenic disturbance. The project is supported by a KESS 2 (http://kess2.ac.uk/about/) scholarship and will operate in collaboration with the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (https://www.gwct.org.uk/wales/) to inform sustainable ungulate management.
