Ovidiu Craciunas

Ovidiu has a background in criminology and has joined the CSTPV community in 2021 as a doctoral student interested in researching the radicalisation of lone-actor terrorists. His research aims to contribute to a better understanding of the specific mechanisms involved in the radicalisation processes of individuals who have carried out acts of politically motivated violence, but who were not directly affiliated with any terrorist groups. To achieve this, his work focuses upon the construction of a database containing relevant information about the narratives of such individuals. His project is supervised by Dr Diego Muro. Ovidiu’s other research interests include: the use of criminological theories in terrorism studies, history of terrorism, the crime-terror nexus, de-radicalisation, policing, and counterterrorism.
